Product Operations – Product Operations Specialist (Jira)

Location: Portugal

So, let’s cut to the chase: we’re looking for a Jira/Confluence specialist who is much more than just a ticket-closer. We need an architect-minded builder to own our internal productivity stack and turn it into a well-oiled machine.

Our Product Operation team is at the intersection of product, engineering, tooling and customers. This function exists to ensure that the smartest minds in tech aren't slowed down by their tools.

How this role fits:

This role is the backbone of our R&D operational efficiency. You won’t just be adding users or creating projects; you will be designing the architecture that allows our engineering teams to scale. The ideal candidate will be technically proficient in scripting, automations that includes integrations with other tools, highly organized, and have successful experience treating internal tools as a product.

Main Responsibilities:

• Atlassian Architecture & Governance - Way beyond simple administration. We are looking for strategic ownership. You will need to:
  • Analyze the current Jira and Confluence setup to identify bottlenecks, technical debt, and architectural flaws.
  • Design and implement a governance strategy to prevent "customization bloat" and ensure system performance remains high.
  • Act as your own "Product Owner" for the internal tools stack, roadmapping upgrades, consolidations, and future improvements.
• Automation & Integration - We believe in automating everything that can be automated and doesn’t live in a silo. You will need to:
  • Architect integrations between Jira/Confluence and our remaining tools.
  • Move beyond basic "If-This-Then-That" Jira automations and build robust solutions for complex business logic.
• Operational Excellence & Support -
  • Troubleshoot complex issues on already existing automations and spaces.
  • Help teams manage their spaces.
  • Mentor power users across the organization, teaching them best practices so they can be self-sufficient without breaking the system.

Requirements:

• Experience: 1+ years of technical experience managing Atlassian products (Jira & Confluence) in an enterprise environment.
• Scripting: Knowledge in the use of ScriptRunner (Groovy). You should be comfortable writing some code to solve problems..
• Ability to see the "big picture." You prioritize scalable solutions over quick hacks.
• Integration Skills: Experience working with REST APIs, webhooks, and integrating Jira with monitoring/observability tools and CI/CD pipelines.
• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills. You can explain why a request is denied and offer a better architectural alternative.
• Certifications: Atlassian Certified Professional (ACP) certifications are a strong asset.
