- Next-Gen Development: Harness the power of Node.js to forge robust backend architectures and frameworks. Your code will fuel the next generation of infotainment and connected car applications.
- Creative API Crafting: Design APIs that are as sleek and efficient as the cars they connect to, ensuring a seamless development experience for third-party creators.
- Tech Stack Mastery: Dive into our stack JavaScript/TypeScript. Explore the depths of SQL and NoSQL databases within a microservices-driven cloud architecture.
- Elevate Infotainment: Develop and enhance the frameworks behind BMW's infotainment systems, pushing the boundaries of in-car technology.
- API Engineering: Build and refine APIs that will become the backbone of BMW's connected vehicle ecosystem, prioritizing scalability and developer experience.
This is a Rockstar Developer role, our take on the classic Software Developer.
Standing as the brick-and-mortar of Critical TechWorks, it plays a crucial role in designing, developing, building, testing, deploying, and maintaining our product. You can find out more - and check other Development vacancies - at this link.
Whatever you’re working on, here’s the lowdown on the technical skills you’re likely to have:
- Solid Node.js Experience developing backend solutions using Node.js.
- Full Stack Versatility: Proficiency in HTML, CSS and JavaScript/TypeScript (competency in Angular, React or Vue.js is a plus).
- Cloud and Containers: You're experienced with AWS, and technologies like Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes are part of your repertoire.
- DevOps and CI/CD: You're no stranger to DevOps culture and have hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and methodologies.
- Experience analyzing and improving app performance and resource utilization across the full stack.

Apart from strong technical skills, our fast-paced, fully agile environment values autonomy, teamwork, interaction, and resilience. Therefore, our Node.js Rockstars should:
- Embrace agile practices, especially Scrum, leveraging its events to foster a high-performing team.
- Be cross-functional, developing new skills to enable a team that owns the entire product lifecycle.
- Apply standard engineering practices using tools like version control, IDEs, and dashboards for organized development.
- Adopt DevOps best practices, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for building, testing, and deploying reliable software.
- Operate software post-deployment, including outside working hours if needed (extra compensation applies).
- Travel abroad occasionally to support all phases of product development.
- Have excellent English oral and written skills. German communication skills will be a plus.
