Lead Front-End Engineer, Solutions UI/UX

The Role: Setting the Standard for Front-End Architecture

The Lead Front-End Engineer will be the technical leader responsible for defining the front-end architecture, development standards, and UI/UX governance for all ready-made solutions. You will guide the team of Front-End Engineers (experts in modern web technologies, primarily JavaScript) to build reusable, performant, and accessible interfaces that seamlessly visualize and interact with complex AI Agent systems.

Key Responsibilities

1. Front-End Architecture & Governance (Primary Focus)

  • Define Standards: Establish and enforce comprehensive front-end engineering standards for code quality, performance optimization, responsiveness, and accessibility (WCAG) across the entire solutions portfolio.
  • Component Strategy: Architect a reusable component library and UI structure that maximizes speed and consistency across all templates, leveraging modern JavaScript and web standards.
  • Performance Leadership: Own the front-end performance roadmap, implementing advanced techniques to ensure exceptional Core Web Vitals, rapid loading times, and a fluid user experience for all packaged solutions.
  • Integration Patterns: Define the client-side integration patterns (e.g., state management, asynchronous communication, data caching) needed for applications to robustly and securely interact with the AI Agent APIs.

2. Technical Leadership & Mentorship

  • Hands-On Leadership: Remain actively involved in development, leading the implementation of the most complex UI components and critical architectural pieces.
  • Mentorship & Review: Conduct thorough code reviews, provide continuous feedback, and mentor the team of Senior Front-End Engineers on advanced JavaScript, CSS, and architectural best practices.
  • Tooling & Workflow: Identify and implement best-in-class front-end tooling, testing frameworks, and workflows to improve team efficiency and code quality.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with the Lead AI Engineer to translate agent output (e.g., confidence scores, tool usage, complex data structures) into clear, actionable, and innovative user interfaces.
  • Partner with the Director of Solutions to align front-end technical strategy with the overall product roadmap and business goals.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise (The Must-Haves)

  • Front-End Architecture Leadership: 7+ years of experience in front-end development, with 2+ years in a Lead or Principal role defining the architecture and best practices for large-scale, enterprise-level web applications.
  • Expert JavaScript & Web Standards: Mastery of modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and advanced CSS (SASS/LESS/Tailwind). Proven ability to architect complex client-side applications without heavy reliance on specific frameworks.
  • Performance Optimization: Deep expertise in front-end performance tuning, browser rendering paths, and leveraging tools to ensure exceptional speed and responsiveness across devices.
  • Testing and Quality: Strong experience with front-end testing methodologies (unit, integration, E2E) and integrating them into CI/CD pipelines.

Desirable Expertise (A Strong Plus)

  • Low-Code/OutSystems Proficiency: Experience with the OutSystems platform, particularly regarding front-end development using Reactive Web and OutSystems UI. This experience is highly beneficial for rapidly translating designs into deployable low-code assets.
  • Design Systems: Experience contributing to or leading the implementation of a comprehensive Design System or component library.
  • AI UX Experience: Experience in visualizing complex data or interaction flows related to intelligent or conversational systems (LLMs, chat interfaces).

Leadership & Professional Attributes

  • Architectural Vision: Proven ability to define a clear, scalable technical roadmap and effectively communicate it to both technical and executive audiences.
  • Team Builder: Demonstrated success in leading, motivating, and upskilling a technical team.
  • Focus on Reusability: Strong passion for building modular, documented, and reusable components that accelerate development across multiple projects.
